Who We Are: This website was the combined idea of six individuals who are either currently attending or have graduated from the University of Florida, Gainesville. We are Melech & Myriam Citron, Hilla Lee & David Wiener, Rachael Gubernick & Oriel Lubotsky. While living and studing in Gainesville the six of us found a home away from home at the Lubavitch Jewish Center of Gainesville and attended services there pretty much every week and on the big holidays as well as spend days and nights there learning Torah and Mitzvot.

Why We Started: During our time spent at the University of Florida we gained a tremendous amount from the Lubavitch Center and one thing that has always stuck out on high holidays as well as on Shabbat was the need for a Sefer Torah. There are times during the high holidays when there is a need for up to three Torahs since we have to read from three different parts of the Torah Scroll and would otherwise need to roll the Torah Scroll from one part to the other and then to another. Since the spring of 2000 the Lubavitch Jewish Center of Gainesville has had to borrow Sefer Torahs from other shuls the Miami area. Seeing the great need that is present for a Torah we have decided to try and help by not only donating money for a Torah but trying to help fundraise money through this website for a Torah. Hopefully with success we will not only be able to help the Jewish Community in Gainesville but anywhere that needs help in raising money to purchase a Torah Scroll.
